Mold native

2015

265x235x235mm (assembled)
-
mouth-blown glass, LEDs display
-
prototypes : CIAV Meisenthal
-
photos credits : Pierre Nicou

Mold-Native lamps are, beyond the function of the object itself, investigating the potential of a reinterpreted production method, face to the common industrial repetition process. The mold that usually produces a single shape is here deconstructed, exploded in several layers: a duplication and repetition tool that become a research medium. After each blow, this experimental mold can be simply readjusted or even completely reorganised.
A tool that aims to open a dialogue between the designer and the craftmen, to rethink production possibilities and to generate, from a single mold, an alphabet of various shapes.

A project followed by Pierre Favresse and produced by Meisenthal CIAV craftmen - Exhibited at Paris Designer Days, 2015.
